As part of the âClose to the Forestâ body of work (2017)â¥Â , this paintingâs name comes from the word âthermoclineâ which represents the layer of water in the ocean where the temperature gradient is greater than the warmer layer above and the colder layer below it. Floracline is a word I made up meant to address the point at the edge of a stand of forest growth where it is not as dense and lush as is the forest but denser than the open space that borders the other side of it. License is often taken to create titles for the work that sit between metaphor and nonsense.
