Being sculpture and containing heavy social commentary makes this piece somewhat of an outlier in my oeuvre. “Cascade” was part of the body of work “Spaces Between” (2007). Its relevance to my current work resides in the metaphorical use of casein (milk protein) paint and symbolic use of the large bucket as crucible for our relationship with these animals and their service to us. I have continued to use these aspects of narration throughout many bodies of work since I made “Cascade”.
