Sabi Ginkgo: Nesting

Part of my Sabi Fusion series, this piece transforms an old wooden brick mold into a personal shrine. A driftwood ginkgo tree crowns the top, while a miniature blank journal invites your own stories. Inside, a vivid enameled glass panel sets the scene for a copper wire nest, cradling smooth stones and a single feather. A black lacquered door with glass keeps your mementos safeâhonoring the past while holding space for what's still unfolding.

Sabi is a Japanese word that describes the tranquil beauty found in age and imperfection. I create sculptural glass art rooted in a practice I call Sabi Fusion â blending contemporary glasswork with aged or weathered objects I collect because I find them too beautiful to ignore: weathered lumber, remnants of old furniture, driftwood, stone. They inspire the direction of the new work, resulting in a fusion of old and new that honors their Sabi while creating something fresh and unexpected.
