Donna Weiser
Our lives are too short to focus and to draw conclusions: we stand so close to the event of our existence that our reason is blurred and we cannot savor the moment. We are “a footprint in the sands of time, “ measured minute by minute instead of by centuries. But in art, the products born in such haste still have a chance to survive the reporting of their birth and to effect a future reaction - the train stands still and the scenery moves.
Those who use their hands to create, live in God’s view. They test the moment with their actions and are willing to be accountable. If creators do not climb up, but stay on a lower level shadowed by higher purposes, they would be safe from scrutiny. But we climb and create our destiny and thus pay the cost revealed by brightness. We can be seen because we see.
“Che vaga pur a fonda le stelle I’firmamento. Me vogio esse eterno.”
“Let the star and the firmament sink….I want to be eternal.”
