Regina Imbsweiler
Regina Imbsweiler has been making jewelry since 1974, when she joined the renowned School for Goldsmiths in Pforzheim in her native Germany. Since then, she has considered herself an artist as much as a craftswoman. In 1991, Regina brought her work with her as she moved from Europe to America. In the 1990s, she owned Goldsmiths Gallery in the heart of Buckhead with her husband Ted. Since 1998, she has continued her work as a member of Irvindale Studios, a community arts studio founded in 1987.
Making jewelry has, for Regina, always been a form of meditation, and a restful retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Secluded in her workshop, she devotes herself to continuing the ancient goldsmithing tradition.
Regina’s work combines playful and the classical elements. Her favorite techniques combine silver and gold in an elaborate overlay that uses delicate, hand-drawn wires in flowing lines, as well as granulation, to create a unique look. The settings and the gold overlay are executed in 22 karat gold. Regina is a member of the Metal Arts Guild of Georgia (insert link) and Piedmont Craftsmen, Winston-Salem, NC.
