Gretchen Bell

Born in 1974 in the picturesque landscapes of Minnesota, Gretchen Bell has always been captivated by the beauty of the natural world. Currently residing in Colorado, she draws immense inspiration from the stunning mountains, diverse wildlife, and serene outdoor experiences that surround her. Her journey as an artist began as a young child, drawing anytime she could. During her undergraduate studies in Wisconsin, she honed her skills and developed a profound appreciation for Nature’s elements.

With a passion for capturing the essence of the outdoors, Gretchen Bell’s work often features vibrant depictions of the outdoor environment. She believes that art has the power to evoke emotions and bring awareness to the beauty and fragility of the natural world. Through her art, Bell invites viewers to reconnect with nature and appreciate the wonders that lie just beyond their doorstep.

Aspen trees serve as a significant source of inspiration for Bell. Known for their striking white bark and vibrant yellow foliage in the fall, these trees symbolize resilience and beauty in nature. She often captures the unique textures and colors of aspen groves, reflecting the interplay of light and shadow. Through her art, Bell aims to evoke a sense of tranquility and connections to the outdoors, inviting viewers to appreciate the intricate details of these magnificent trees.

By painting on wood using stain, acrylic and graphite, Bell further ties nature to her artwork. Her love of photography inspires her subjects, while her favorite artist Matisse inspires her focus on patterns found naturally in nature.
