Connie Essig

I grew up in the small town of Tampico, Illinois. My family started vacationing on Washington Island in 1946 and I have spent 72 years summering on the Island. There is no shortage of what nature provides as inspiration while driving through Door County, the ride on the ferry and stepping on the screened porch for the first time in the spring. It is the feeling of peace and healing that is my inspiration. 

C.S. Lewis once said "You are never too old to set new goals" so about 6 years ago, I decided to become a potter. This was not difficult since I had available to me, one of the best ceramic teachers, my sister Sandra McKenzie Schmitt. She has had her pottery in over 150 galleries over the past 50 years. She and I have a studio together now and I learn something new all the time. 

I am honored to have my pottery at Edgewood Orchard Galleries.
