New Artist Submission Process
Thank you for your interest in showing your artwork at Edgewood Orchard Galleries. Finding new artists and new artwork to share with the visitors to our gallery is very important to us, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your art with us. We are open seven days a week from May through October, and during this time we devote our full energy to the artists that we currently represent. For this reason, we hope that you will understand that we are unable to look at new work during the gallery season, but look forward to it after we close.
We review new artist submissions each December and typically add eight to ten new artists each season, some years more, some years less. Final decisions and commitments to our artists are made in January for the upcoming gallery season. We are thankful for the interest from many artists who would like to show their artwork at our gallery, and each year we receive materials from 150-200 prospective exhibitors. We have established the following procedures to ensure that we can examine each submission in a fair and professional manner as we make our decisions regarding gallery representation:
We prefer to view images of your current work on a CD. Images sent or via email or images available to view on your website are also acceptable, but a CD is preferred.
Each image should be identified with a title, medium, dimensions, date the piece was completed, and the retail price of the work. If sending images on a CD, it is helpful if you include a separate printed sheet listing this information.
In addition to sending images, it is also helpful to us if you enclose your resume and any other supporting materials that help us get to know you and your artwork better.
If you would like to receive your submission materials back, please include a self-addressed envelope with adequate postage for their return.
To keep your submission materials as current as possible, we ask that you send your submission packet between September 1st and November 15th. Any materials we receive at other times during the year will be held until the next review cycle in December when they will be considered for the following gallery season. We hope that you will appreciate the need for this timetable. With a relatively short and busy six month gallery season, while the gallery is open we work hard to represent our current artists very well. For this reason, the winter months when the gallery is closed is the only time that we can ensure your artwork receives the thoughtful consideration that it deserves.
Our final decisions are based on a number of factors in addition to the quality of your artwork. We consider the medium in which you work and how well represented that medium is in our gallery. We also consider whether or not we feel that we have the right audience for your work. Your submission will receive our full consideration, and we thank you again for your interest in Edgewood Orchard Galleries.
